Getting used to America
So this week has been kind of a turning point for me. It's not that I haven't had fun and enjoyed my stay before, but now I feel like I'm actually getting into it. I have my habits and I'm starting to get to know people better. It's great.
This week I've done the usual (yes, I've been here for that long now. I have my "usuals"); gone to school, done some homework and hung out with my host family. On Monday we went over to a "famous" Southern restaurant with two of Michael's colleagues. They are known for their fried chicken, which of course is a very typical Southern food. I had a great time. In the restaurant they had a wall of photos with different celebrities who'd eaten there. So yes, I have now eaten in the same restaurant as Justin Bieber (be jealous).
On Friday there was a game at my school but I decided not to go because most of my friends weren't going. Instead I went out to dinner with Tom and Michael. To "Vintage", which is a pizza restaurant. I really enjoyed it. My host family is the best, just so you know.
Saturday, I first had breakfast with Tom and Michael. I have discovered a great love for something called Apple and Cinnamon Butter. It's a kind of jam you put on biscuits for example. It's heavenly. After that I went to the gym with Michael, and then we went grocery shopping. When I got home I got ready and then Michael dropped me off at Goodwill Thrift Shop (I'm gonna pop some tags, only got twenty dollars in my pocket #sorrynotsorry) where I met up with Emma. We did some shopping there and then we went over to the mall nearby where we continued our shopping. I don't like shopping, but I needed clothes and I was in good company so it was okay. I later got picked up by Michael (yes, they have to drive me everywhere, there's no other way for me to get around.) and we went home. I got ready and then I went over to a Sweet 16 party for a girl in my school. It was a Hawaiian luau which was pretty cool. She had a basket with leis and a sign that said get lei'd, and a lot of decorations. It was awesome.
Today (Sunday), I started my day by going for a run in a nearby park. I then did some homework and cleaned up my room. Later in the evening my liaison Andie came over for dinner, which I cooked. Yes mom, be proud of me. I was really happy with the result and it seemed like everyone else was as well. I had a great time today and I hope that I'll see a lot more of Andie.
Puss och Kram
