Time flies

Publicerad 2015-10-05 23:29:13 i Allmänt,

So I've already been here for about eight weeks. That's crazy. Same for this past weekend; it was crazy. And with that I mean that there was a lot going on. On Friday, me and Rachel stayed after school. We hung out, ate some Chick-fil-A and some Swedish candy, and watched Jamblee (Jam session + Chamblee = Jamblee). Some kids performed, and some of them were really good. It was fun. We stayed and watched the football game, and some other people joined us. Even though it was raining and our team were losing by 30-0, I had a great time. It was our homecoming game so the runner ups for homecoming queen walked over the field in half time in their fancy outfits (their heels were about the same length as one of my arms). They were walking one by one with their dads, and I kept hoping that they would trip and fall in the mud (haha yeah, I'm sorry, but that would've been hilarious).

Saturday was a LONG day. I woke up around seven and took a shower. After that, Tom, Michael and I went to a Waffle House for breakfast. I ate waffles (I was kind of obligated to do it, right?) and some eggs by the side. It was good. Not the best waffles I've had but yeah. When we had finished our breakfast we drove over to my AFS orientation; the post-arrival camp. We had a lot of different sessions during the day where we talked about how we've adapted to school, friends and families. It was nice to see everybody again and see how they're doing. Talking to the other exchange students is great, because they know what you are going through (and also because they are simply awesome). It gives you some perspective as well; maybe your "problems" aren't that bad.

Later that evening, after a whole day of listening and discussing, Tom drove me and Emma over to Sanjana's house. There we got ready for homecoming (YAY). We were seven girls, getting ready at Sanjana's place. It was too bad that it was scheduled on the same weekend as our camp though. I really wanted to be a part of the whole orientation. The dance started at eight and that's about when we got there. Then there was just a lot of dancing for three hours. I didn't recognize most of the music and heels aren't my thing, but it was great! I danced with different people and tried to keep up with all of their special dance moves (for those of you who are young enough to know what it is: yes, I did the so called whip). By eleven, Emma's host dad came and picked us up. He gave us a ride to the hotel where all the other AFS students were. We then just hung out with them in one of the hotel rooms. I think I went to bed around three in the morning. So you can imagine that I was tired when we on the next day had breakfast at eight.

Sunday. As I said, we had breakfast around eight in the morning, and after that went on with our sessions. They kept going until 12.15 and then we wrapped it up and said goodbye. I got a ride home by Magnus and his host parents. The rest of the day was just dedicated to trying to stay awake. I went for a run in the park, tried to do some homework, and then we had a guest over for dinner; a friend of Tom and Michael. I finished my homework and then went to bed. I was (and still am) exhausted.

So today (Monday) was a though day, it was good but I am so darn tired. I'll have to go to bed early tonight. This upcoming week is going to be a lot of fun, I have a lot of things to do. I have a concert at school (with musical theatre and chorus), I'm going to Nashville with my host family for my four day weekend (teachers' something day on Friday and Columbus Day on Monday), and we must not forget that my birthday is coming up as well. I have a lot to do basically.

I'll hopefully posting something later on about my week (if I can survive it in the first place). See you later alligator.

Puss och Kram
